Here’s what happens when you use the shield:

  • The shield liner is placed inside your incontinence brief or diaper, positioned directly under the urethra.
  • During the day, urine and stool are absorbed into the incontinence product, creating a warm, moist environment that allows bacteria to multiply and thrive. 
  • When bacteria build up in this damp space, they may enter the urethra, increasing the risk of urinary discomfort and UTIs.
  • UraGuard® creates a targeted physical barrier over the urethral area, separating it from the moist parts of the incontinence product where bacteria are present.
  • As the urethra is covered, bacteria held in the pad or brief don’t reach the urethral opening, reducing the chances of infection.

Unlike full-length pads, UraGuard® is a small, targeted shield designed specifically to cover the urethral area — not absorb fluid. It works alongside your existing incontinence brief or disposable underwear.
